Purpose

The MGRID portal provides highly secure access via the web to grid resources. Based on kx509, both the user and portal are authenticated, and all communications are encrypted. This approach capitalizes on the University of Michigan's existing Kerberos infrastructure, so that any university member can access MGRID facilities with the credentials they already own. The portal uses highly flexible Java Servlets running under CHEF, and is now operational. Instructions for using it can be found on the MGRID web site. Future plans include migration to Sakai and the addition of portlets tailored to user's special needs.
